The Mecha-Flex-Exo Ares Fighters, or simply MFEs, were human-made aerial and space warfare jets. These fighters were created by Commander Samuel Holt in the Galaxy Garrison after his return. In season 7 of VLD the first generation of MFEs was a success, resulting in the creation of four second-generation MFEs that were built to defend Earth from the Galra. These fighters resembled standard Garrison fighters but had very advanced weaponry taken from Altean schematics Samuel had taken back to Earth from the Castle of lions.
These agile ships were powered by crystal technology, removing the need to stop for refueling. The pilots of the known four fighters are James Griffin, Ina Leifsdottir, Ryan Kinkade, and Nadia Rizavi. These pilots were said to be the best in their class, so they were chosen to fly the ships.
Weapons[]
The MFEs had multiple weapon systems on them. There was a main cannon underneath the nose and cockpit. The fighters also carried many electro-pulse missiles. In one scene, Cadet Griffin is seen shooting down a Galra fighter with a tail gun. In the seventh episode of Season 7, Cadet Rizavi uses micro-pulse boosters in training.
Design[]
Both generations of MFE-Ares fighters have two main engines on the back and two long wings, as well as a tinted windshield and a storage area in the remaining space inside the fighter and are piloted by a single pilot while a rear seat behind can be occupied by a co-pilot or passenger if needed. the second generation of fighters is far larger and bulkier than the first generation.
Trivia[]
- The MFEs specifically the second generation was originally meant to be transformable into literal flying mechs and back into fighter form, heavily inspired by the legendary Marcross anime series but were scrapped due to CG budget limitations, suffering the same fate as the Sincline ships being reduced to three instead of five.
